The Wanaque Reservoir
This is a map of the Wanaque Reservoir from when it was originally contructed. Handwritten additions were made by the
late Louis P. West, Sr., a longtime resident of the area. The original alignment of the Greenwood Lake Division of the
Erie Railroad (NY&GL) has been outlined in BLUE. The realignment of the railroad has been
outlined in RED.
It is also interesting to note the relocations of Westbrook Road, Greenwood Lake Road, and Ringwood Road for the contstruction
of the reservoir. Today, Greenwood Lake Road is called Greenwood Lake Turnpike, Ringwood Road is called Sloatsburg Road,
and Tice's Pond Road is now Skyline Drive.
Map modified from map found in RAMAPO MOUNTAIN STORIES AND TALES by Louis P. West, Sr.
